Insurance Risk Adviser (Broker) - Bay of Plenty

We are hiring!

As a commercial Risk Adviser, you’ll manage your own portfolio of clients whilst working closely with senior colleagues on more complex accounts. From renewals and proposals to advisory conversations and insurer engagement, you’ll be a key player in delivering great outcomes for our clients and building long-term partnerships.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Portfolio Management: Own and manage a diverse portfolio of commercial clients, ensuring timely renewals and tailored advice.
  • Client Engagement: Build lasting relationships by delivering sound, strategic insurance advice and holding authentic conversations.
  • Support on Complex Accounts: Work alongside senior advisers to support on large or technical accounts (either new business or existing relationships), gaining exposure and learning along the way.
  • Insurance Program Development: Prepare and present insurance program proposals and renewal strategies with confidence and clarity.
  • Market Liaison: Build strong relationships with our insurer partners and stay across industry trends to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Growth Focus: Actively look for opportunities to grow and develop as an Adviser, whilst contributing to the overall success of the team.

Claims Adviser

We’re now seeking a confident and experienced Claims Adviser to manage a diverse portfolio of claims – particularly across liability, technical, and marine.

What you’ll be doing:

This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you’ll handle claims end-to-end—acting as a trusted guide to clients during some of their most critical moments, ensuring claims are handled with professionalism, empathy, and expertise.

  • Claims Handling Excellence: Manage claim lodgements and workflows with a strong focus on liability, technical and marine matters—ensuring a smooth, clear, and timely process from first contact to final resolution.
  • Claims Relationship Management: Be a reliable, informed point of contact for clients, advisers, insurers, and assessors—providing clarity, reassurance, and real-time updates throughout the claims journey.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Proactively liaise with underwriters, assessors, contractors and third-party providers to push claims forward, resolve issues, and negotiate fair settlements.
  • Client Engagement & Presentations: Join adviser and client meetings as needed—offering claims insights, trends, and technical advice to support renewals, retention, and new opportunities.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to newer claims team members and actively contribute to a positive, solutions-focused team environment.
